Frequently Asked Questions About VA Nexus Letters
VA Claim Development & Support | Nationwide Medical Consulting
Quick Answers to FAQs
Why are you not the cheapest?
Many of the cheaper nexus letter companies use lesser credentialed experts, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Our reports come from medical doctors who went to medical school. In fact, our medical director has both an M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree.
How quickly can I get my nexus letter?
Generally, it takes about 3-4 weeks. Our doctors are very experienced and well regarded. As such, there is significant demand for their services. But we do offer an expedited service for an additional $200. If you choose the expedited service, we will provide a report within two weeks or we will refund the extra $200. If you need it faster than that, call us and we can discuss it. Expedited service is only available in sleep apnea cases.
What happens if the doctor cannot find a way to service connect my condition?
Our doctors work very hard to find ways to service-connect conditions for our clients. However, sometimes the science and the facts do not support service connection. We are committed to the highest standards of honesty and integrity. If we believe there is no possible way to connect your condition, we will tell you and refund all but $200 of your retainer. We have to keep $200 to cover the cost of our doctors reviewing the materials.
Do you charge more for larger files?
No. We do not charge higher fees if you have more pages to review.
Can you guarantee your nexus letter will win my case?
No. Our nexus letters will increase your chances of winning but there is no guarantee. So, there is a risk that you spend the money and still get denied.
What happens if I get denied after submitting my nexus letter?
You have the right to appeal. We would recommend contacting a lawyer who specializes in veterans’ benefits litigation. You can contact our office, and we may be able to refer you to a law firm that we trust.
Do you charge more for multiple issues?
If you have other issues besides sleep apnea that you want service connected, we charge a flat fee of $1,500 for a report regardless of the number of issues. If the only issue is sleep apnea, we charge $797.
Do you do other types of cases?
Yes. Although we focus on sleep apnea, our doctors are experienced and well versed in the full spectrum of medical issues, including toxicology and issues involving pharmaceutical interactions. So, if you have a sleep apnea issue, plus any other issues (as many as you have), we charge a flat fee of $1,500.
Do you take increased rating claims?
No. We offer the nexus letter service for service-connection claims only. We do not do current exams to assess levels of impairment.
Can you charge a contingency fee?
No. A contingency fee is usually a percentage of back pay awarded, and paying the fee is contingent on winning. We do not charge contingent fees, as we believe that is unethical in this context.
